The Newell Group Pty Ltd

The Newell Group Pty Ltd is owned and managed by the Newell family, with Dennis Newell who founded the company in 1967 being the Managing Director.

The Newell Group is a company based at Murray Bridge in regional South Australia. Murray Bridge is 70km from Adelaide and is on the main highway, which spans Australia from east to west.

The Newell team is staffed by a highly skilled local work force and specialises in the manufacturing of composite reinforced products. Our major fields are filament winding, specialised fabrication and corrosion resistant manufacturing.

The company began with vacuum-formed plastic products before moving into fibreglass manufacturing in 1973.  Manufacturing which begun in the back street, moved in 1977 onto the existing site on Adelaide Road.

Through the eighties the company consolidated and expanded into a variety of products and fields such as floating jetties-marinas, tractor canopies, domestic and chemical tanks, boom spray machines, canoes, kayaks, bathrooms, illuminated signs to name just a few.

Just as the waters seemed calm, a devastating fire destroyed all on December 6th 1996.  All factories, workshops, showrooms and offices became ashes.  Through the dedication and hard work of the staff over the 1997 year a new state of the art factory, warehouse and administration complex was rebuilt.  It certainly surprised everyone at what they were able to achieve in such a short time.

Prior to this time The Newell Group operated four sections, comprising of composite FRP manufacturing, marine sales and service, plastic signs, and industrial engineering (steel fabrication). Only the composite FRP manufacturing, plastics sales and engineering (for our own in-house requirements) were retained.

During 1998 replacement and new design moulds were constructed, more filament winding machines added, sales literature replaced and marketing expanded, The Newell Group were back with force.

The Newell Group has gained enormous experience in a wide array of fields over the decades and has now focused in very specialised areas, aimed at niche markets, in particular the anti corrosion and food grade markets.  Alliances with several companies and many consultants in selected industrial, agricultural and food production fields enabling production of specific new products keeping them at the forefront of the development.
